What a software factory can build
Ten examples, from a simple website to a company's own CRM. One factory is enough for a small to medium business's product.
These are examples, not client work. Every company, person and product on this page is invented, to show the kind of software a factory builds.

A business website
A bakery, a clinic, a local trade
Home page, services, opening hours and an order form, on desktop and phone.
Best run: Done for you

Ajax, an internal CRM
A company that wants its own CRM instead of renting one
Sales pipeline, contacts with their history, deals and the sales numbers.
Best run: Run by your team

A help desk
A support team answering customers
Ticket queue, conversations, response-time targets and a customer form.
Best run: Either way

A booking system
A clinic, a salon, a training centre
Online booking, the staff calendar, reminders and settings.
Best run: Done for you

A field service app
Technicians out on jobs, and the office sending them
Jobs on a phone with photos and customer sign-off, and a dispatch map.
Best run: Run by your team

Inventory and ordering
A distributor or a small warehouse
Stock levels, reorder alerts, purchase orders and receiving.
Best run: In between

An onboarding portal
HR at a growing company
A new starter's checklist, documents to sign, and their manager's view.
Best run: Done for you

Quotes and invoicing
A services business
Quotes that become invoices, paid and overdue at a glance, and the client's copy.
Best run: Either way

A management dashboard
Leadership who want one view of the numbers
The week's figures, trends by region, and a digest sent by email.
Best run: In between

A customer portal
A supplier's business customers
Order tracking, reordering, invoices and documents in one place.
Best run: Run by your team
Three ways to run it
- Done for you
- The factory is chosen, set up and run for you. You are the product person: send a request by email, in writing or as a screen recording where you talk through the change, and get an email when it is live. A senior engineer checks the technical decisions so the product stays maintainable.
- Run by your team
- Your own factory, with the coding agents you choose. Your team runs it from the factory cockpit in any browser or from the phone, typed or spoken: the phone has a fully voice-driven mode for when you are away from the computer. One of your technical people is shown how to run it, and from then on it is yours.
- In between
- Your team drives part of it, and the rest is run for you.
Whichever way you run it, the technical side can be done fully by your own team, or by DevThrottle. How much help you get depends on what you need.
Which one is yours?
Say what you want built and how much of the factory you want to run yourself. Two minutes of questions, then a 20-minute call.
Rather do it yourself? The same factory software runs on your own computer for $50 a month per person. You set it up and you run it. See the do-it-yourself plan
